Wills

The importance of having a will can so often be overlooked. Dying with no will (known as dying intestate) means that those you hoped would inherit from you may actually lose out. This can be very distressing for the family you leave behind. It is also more complex for the family to finalise everything if no will has been written. Unmarried partners may lose their right to live in your home. Also, what if you die with children under the age of 16? Who will look after them?

If you have not made provision in your will and specified who the guardians of your children are to be, then people you would not have chosen could end up looking after them. In extreme cases, this could even mean children being looked after by social services. Don’t risk such things happening—a simple will can help ensure your wishes are followed if you are no longer here.
